F.A.Q

WhAT type of services does your Day Care offer?
Our services include day care for children aged 2 to 5 years (from 8 am to 12 pm), bi-monthly workshops for parents, creative workshops (afternoon), babysitting services, and psycho-pedagogical counseling.

What is your daily schedule?
Daycare: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 12 pm. Parent workshops: with prior scheduling. Afternoon workshops: Tuesday and Thursday from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Do you work the whole year?
Yes. We start work in the second half of January and finish in the second half of December. CDA only takes national and departmental holidays.

What are all the activities you engage children in?
Our activities focus on working on sensory-motor and cognitive development areas, language stimulation, logical-mathematical thinking, social skills, emotional management and learning through play and experimentation.
What does the routine look like in CDA?
At CDA, we understand play as the central pillar of our activities. The daily routine includes free playtime, an initial greeting and calendar review, cooperative/musical/motor activity, snack time, reading/free time, the theme of the day (according to the quarterly theme), and goodbye.

How does your center balance indoor and outdoor activities?
Our facilities allow the routine to be adapted to both outdoors and indoors. Children have the opportunity to experiment with materials freely, choosing between physical activities or concentration tasks.

What is your admission criteria?
Initial interview to get to know the facilities and team and submission of a data and responsibilities form.

What are your religious or political stances?
We are committed to maintaining a secular environment where diversity of beliefs is respected, and religious and political neutrality is ensured. We value the importance of keeping religious and political opinions out of our educational and professional activities, thereby promoting an inclusive and respectful space for everyone. Any expression or manifestation related to religious or political matters should be conducted in a personal context and outside the institution's premises or activities.

Do you offer part-time enrollment too? If yes, what time do you offer?
Our service is available Monday to Friday, from January to December. However, we also offer 1, 2, or 3 days per week with adjusted fees.

Is there a pickup and drop off service available?
We don´t offer one, however, parents can organize carpooling among each other, which is an external arrangement not managed by CDA.

What are the procedures for drop-off and pick-up of the children?
Children enter by walking and carrying their belongings and will be guided to the classroom until the routine is fully internalized. Parents can wait behind the designated areas and are asked not to enter without authorization due to the classroom organization and the smooth flow of routines.

If your child needs to be picked up early or arrives late, you must notify the caregivers so they can assist you promptly.
NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON OUR PREMISES because we have an existing pet, and we respect his space.

If someone other than the usual guardian will be picking up the child, you must notify the lead caregiver in advance; otherwise, the child cannot leave CDA.

Does your center also require vaccinations?
We require children to be vaccinated and to present their up-to-date vaccination cards. However, if families choose not to vaccinate, they must sign a liability waiver contract with CDA in case of contagious infections such as COVID, SARS-CoV, etc.

Do you have a medical emergency kit available in every classroom?
Yes, at CDA, we have a basic emergency kit for disinfecting wounds and scrapes, a thermometer, and band-aids. If children require specific medication, the information with a prescription must be communicated to their caregiver with the appropriate dosage. Otherwise, CDA does not administer any type of medication.

Do kids have snack time?
Children bring their snacks from home. We ask parents to provide a balanced diet with protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, etc. We request that foods with high sugar content and artificial coloring not be sent.

Do we need to send or buy extra daily materials?
No. The annual inscription fee includes daily materials and tickets for fieldtrips, however, you might be asked to send special objects from home like favorite books, toys, family pictures, etc.
Sometimes, a collaboration from families is required when picnics take place.

Do you TAKE INTO ACCOUNT a child’s diet plan as prescribed by their doctor?
Yes. When filling out the registration forms, parents must indicate if the child has allergies or follows a specific diet.

What qualifications do all caregivers have?

Do you have experienced staff for medical care?
We ask parents for the insurance policy number in case of emergencies or accidents.

What is your approach toward behavioral problems?
At CDA, we use a conscious discipline approach, taking into account each child's neurological and developmental states to understand the body and mind states that generate behaviors in humans. By being aware of these states, children can manage and express thoughts and emotions functionally. The group guide serves as an appropriate model for the children, providing the framework to replicate functional behaviors through behavior modeling, allowing them to solve problems and interact appropriately.

How do they maintain communication with the parent?
At CDA, we have a WhatsApp group for parents, as well as a private IG page to post children's activities. Each quarter, a development evaluation is conducted, and a report with recommendations and observations is presented to the parents. Appointments can also be arranged to discuss children's progress at specific times.
What’s your child care to caregiver ratio?
We have a lead teacher and an assistant, with a policy of 1 caregiver for every 6 children.

Is screen time permitted?
We use audiovisual resources to play short documentaries that occasionally accompany our educational content (facts about animals, dinosaurs, etc.). We do not use resources such as cartoons or series.

What are the procedures for emergencies?
In case of accidents, the first steps are to asses the severity of the injuries and contact the parents, as well as the medical assistance specified in the child's insurance. If the injuries are not severe, the wounds are treated using the emergency kit, any symptoms are recorded, and parents are immediately informed about the incident.

What is your policy regarding sickness?
If children show symptoms such as fever, abnormal and excessive mucus, sneezing, coughing, diarrhea, or symptoms of gastroenteritis, they must stay at home. If these symptoms appear during service hours, parents are called to pick up the child, and contact areas are disinfected to prevent the spread of diseases. In case of illness among caregivers, it is important that parents know that services will not be provided on those days, so we request responsibility in not sending children with symptoms of illness to protect the whole community.

Do you offer any kind of developmental reports?
Yes. At CDA, we prepare reports quarterly, including the results of evaluations based on the Portage Preschool Development Guide scales and the Battelle Developmental Inventory. Children aged 3 to 5 years have assessments on learning skills, logical-mathematical thinking, social and natural environment, and communication and language.
What happens if my child needs additional therapy?
At CDA, we have professional alliances with child therapists that can address cases of autism spectrum disorder, sensory integration disorders, ADHD, dyslexia, and language difficulties. After an initial evaluation and identifying different signs and symptoms, parents are informed and referred to specialized clinics, which will work interdisciplinarily with the child's development at CDA.
What is the procedure for potty training?
Families who are in the process of potty training must send their children with pull-ups, a potty of their choice, and various change of clothes. We request not to send children without pull-ups if potty training is not fully matured, as frequent contact with feces exposes caregivers and areas to potentially infectious bacteria.

Do I need to sign a document for potty and changing clothes assistance?
Yes. At CDA, we have safety protocols that authorize only one person to come into contact with the child for changing clothes, cleaning after using the toilet, and changing diapers. Our staff is certified with an updated RENAS certification that will be presented.

Can my child bring toys from home?
Yes. At CDA, we consider it an opportunity to promote values such as sharing and stimulate language through the description of their favorite toy. However, we are not responsible for the temporary loss of toys brought from home or any damage that may occur to the toys within the daycare.

How do you manage the drop-off and pick-up time windows?
Our service is available from 7:45 am to 12:15 pm. After more than 4 instances of picking up children after 12:15 pm, an extra hour charge of Q75 will be applied.

If I need to travel, do I get refunds or partial payments?
CDA does not refund the annual registration fee for early withdrawal, and monthly fees must be paid in full during travel time. If families do not wish to pay the monthly fees during travel, their spot cannot be reserved.

How do you handle class cancellations at the government level?
CDA cancels classes only in the event of natural disaster risks or environmental contamination previously announced by MINEDUC and CONRED. No refunds or make-up days are offered for these cancellations.
How are CDA's services classified?
CDA issues invoices for professional psycho-pedagogical services on a monthly basis as a private company. You will get your invoice with your NIT number or CF every month through private Whatsapp.

Are there more fees besides inscription and monthly payment?
Yes. Monthly payments must be made from the 1st to the 5th of each month. Late payments incur a single charge of Q75.00. CDA services are offered individually (daycare, workshops, babysitting services).
